ESL/English 11 Accelerated
In this course designed for students strongest in English, they will engage in guided intensive readings of a diverse range of university-level texts, learning to read those texts thoroughly and critically. They will familiarize themselves with the conventions of analytical academic writing and learn to display sensitivity to audience needs. Writing tasks will require the formulation of rigorously arguable claims accompanied by clear supporting evidence. Students will also encounter canonical works and become versed in literary terminology in preparation for AP-level courses.
